"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"

Mission Statement

Nutrition doesn’t have to be perfect, complicated, or unattainable. I believe that all people have the innate wisdom to eat in a nourishing way. Yet, eating disorders, disordered eating, and dieting can disrupt that innate relationship. It is my privilege to help people move back toward becoming an expert in their own bodies, and relearn to eat for nourishment and wellbeing.

About Laura

Laura Torres

Hello! I’m a licensed and registered dietitian in Austin, Texas. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credentialed through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. I studied psychology at the University of California, San Diego and worked for several years as a research coordinator at the UCSD Eating Disorder Center for Treatment and Research. When I decided to pursue a career in nutrition, I moved to Austin to complete the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at the University of Texas. For three and a half years, I worked at an eating disorder treatment facility as a full time dietitian in the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. There, I worked with adults, adolescents, and their families in their journey toward recovery.  From my experience working in a treatment center, I expanded my skills in providing nutrition counseling to individuals with an eating disorder and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

In my practice, I hope to continue helping folks heal their relationship with food and their bodies. I’m passionate about providing inclusive care, through a non-diet approach, rooted in Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES) principles. I will continue working with adolescents, adults, and their families who are struggling with an eating disorder, as well as those who are experiencing disordered eating, chronic dieting, and health concerns.
